Pineapples – Trend or Classic
Have you noticed that pineapples are everywhere this spring? (we aren’t referring to the produce section of the grocery store.) Long considered the traditional expression of “welcome” throughout the South, the pineapple is the iconic symbol of warmth, welcome, friendship and hospitality. Our love of pineapples was rekindled on our recent travels to the islands. We were comforted by the pineapple motif we spotted over and over in architecture (some of which dated back to the 1800’s). Now we are on a hunt for a pair of vintage pineapples for a special little spot in our house….
We are not the only ones celebrating this juicy fruit. Take note of Lilly Pulitzer’s debut collection for Target. You will spot the pineapple in both the home and clothing lines. Pineapples also have a front row seat in Tory Burch’s 2015 Resort Collection. And, how can you not love Rifle Paper Company’s pineapple wallpaper? Our own Stylistic friend, Emily McCarthy, incorporated the pineapple into the wallpaper she designed for her (soon-to-be-born) daughter’s room. What a wonderful way of saying, “Welcome to the family dear baby girl!”
Here we have gathered several boards to celebrate this juicy, sweet, welcoming fruit. Whether you consume it, wear it or decorate with it…we know that you will always enjoy it! And, adding a layer of pineapple to any of the above will add warmth to your communal table, wardrobe and/or home. Just in case you are still wondering, we think it’s an iconic classic, not a trend!
